Divergent Realities

The inspiration for her “Grace” series stems from a captivating scene where a dark gray building was transformed by the sun's rays during the golden hour. The sunlight draped the building, adorning the building in the sun's vibrant hues. Though the building retained its stature, it now wore a new attire, redressed in the sun's palette.

In light of this inspiration, Yun aims to craft a chair that explores the interplay of color, light, shadow, and reflective surfaces, with a focus on the transformative essence of "light." Constructed from inked and painted plywood, the chair features simple geometric shapes arranged in parallel with deliberate gaps between them. These intervals allow light to traverse and interact with their luminescent allure.    Her work is a quest to rekindle our capacity for gratitude and appreciation in the hustle of the everyday. In a world where we often become desensitized to the extraordinary stimuli that surround us, she endeavors to introduce innovative ways of engaging with our surroundings, infusing them with renewed vitality. Ultimately, she strives to open the window for beauty to permeate our lives, allowing us to cherish the small wonders as light itself.

METAMORPHIC LANDSCAPES explores artistic transformation of natural materials and environments, where artists weave their surroundings into narratives using materials as metaphors, ultimately reshaping our perception of evolving landscapes.

Yun's "Grace Series" chair is invited to the exhibition exploring Genesis for its profound exploration of light as a transformative force. Inspired by the interplay of color, light, shadow, and reflective surfaces observed during the golden hour, Yun's chair captures the essence of "light" through inked and painted plywood construction. The deliberate arrangement of geometric shapes with intentional gaps allows light to traverse and interact, imbuing the chair with luminescent allure.

Yun's artwork celebrates the visual beauty of light and seeks to rekindle gratitude and appreciation in our daily lives. In a world often numbed to the extraordinary, Yun's innovative approach invites viewers to engage with their surroundings with renewed vitality and sensitivity. The chair becomes a metaphorical window through which beauty permeates our existence, prompting us to cherish the small wonders illuminated by light itself.
